Stars will shine in Hull this week regardless of weather, although Martin Scorsese is hoping for clouds.

Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio and the crew for an upcoming mystery/thriller will be working on Peddock’s Island this week. The crew is hoping for grim weather to match the mood of the film, but their presence should be enough to brighten town for a few days.

Peddock’s will serve as a setting for “Ashecliffe,” a film based on Dorchester-native Dennis Lehane’s 2003 novel “Shutter Island.” The novel takes place in 1954 and concerns a missing person investigation led by U.S. Marshall Teddy Daniels, played by DiCaprio.

Stars such as Mark Ruffalo, Max von Sydow, Ben Kingsley and Michelle Williams are all involved with the project, although it is unclear whether stargazers will catch a glimpse of any actors besides DiCaprio.

Police confirmed that details had been requested for Pemberton Point and Peddock’s Island on today and Tuesday. Film equipment has been seen being hauled into Hull.

Several other scenes for “Ashecliffe” have been shot in Massachusetts, including sets at Whittenton Mills in Taunton and the old Medfield State Hospital.

Scorsese and DiCaprio are no strangers to working in Massachusetts, having filmed “The Departed” in Boston and Quincy in 2006.
