Former cop convicted on all counts in rape and stalking trial

A McLean County jury has found Jeff Pelo, a former Bloomington cop, guilty on more than three dozen charges related to the rape of four women and the stalking of a fifth.

The verdict, announced at about noon Wednesday, came after nearly six weeks of jury selection and testimony from witnesses and about two days of jury deliberations.

Pelo, 43, was arrested in June 2006 and charged with stalking a woman after he was found outside her home. A month later, he was charged in connection with four rapes between 2002 and 2005.

In August 2006, a McLean County grand jury indicted Pelo on 35 charges in connection with the rapes and stalking.
