Foxwoods lays off nearly 200 managers; first such move in casino's history
Nearly 200 middle managers were let go from Foxwoods Resort Casino on Thursday as part of a strategic organizational review, according to a spokeswoman for the casino's owners, the Mashantucket Pequot tribe.
"They're just looking for the wisest spending practices that can go the farthest financially for the tribe," Lori Potter said on behalf of the Mashantuckets.
The casino employs about 10,000 workers, and Potter described the layoffs as less than 2 percent of that work force. She also said she believed the move to be the first such job trimming in the history of the 16-year-old casino.
