Tens of thousands of race fans will arrive by water and land to attend the second annual Offshore Super Series race event this fall.

In 2007, The Resort and Yacht Club at Toad Cove and The Horny Toad Entertainment Complex were chosen as the official sites for the event. They will host the festivities again this year.

According to the Lake of the Ozarks Convention and Visitor Bureau, the 2007 Offshore Super Series attracted fans from 15 states including New York, New Jersey and Florida. The economic impact estimated for the event was nearly $4.5 million.

OSS will be held Sept. 24-28.

“Fifty of the fastest boats (will race at speeds) going up to 200 miles per hour,” spokeswoman Lisa Larsen said.

General admission tickets for the event are $60. Children 12 and younger are admitted free to the family-oriented super series when accompanied by an adult.

In addition to the race, the Kansas City-based Beatles tribute band Liverpool will play that Friday night.  Shooting Star, the first American band to be signed to Virgin Records, will play the next evening. A fireworks display is also planned for Saturday. Tickets to the concerts but not the races are $25 each.
