A cat burglar broke into a Cambridge man’s home last weekend and killed his birds on the way out, according to cops.

The 67-year-old man told police he left his house on Highland Avenue Aug. 15 and when he returned two days later he found his bedroom window fan pushed into his room where the thief entered the house, according to police reports.

The burglar stole a Dell laptop computer from a front hallway, police said. When the man went to check on his birds, he found all three finches dead inside their birdcage, according to police reports.

The victim told police he allegedly found all three birds in the rear right-hand corner of the cage with their necks snapped.

The man told police he has no idea who could have killed his birds, according to reports.
