N.H.’s Peerless returns to Mass. car insurance market

Liberty Mutual’s Peerless Insurance division has issued its first Massachusetts personal auto insurance policy in more than 20 years. Peerless, which is based in Keene, N.H., decided to return to the Massachusetts auto market after state insurance commissioner Nonnie Burnes recently reduced the amount of state regulation for insurance rate-setting. However, Boston-based Liberty Mutual, Peerless’ parent company, is already a major player in the state’s auto insurance market.
