Man dead, another critical after lift collapse in Waltham
One man has died and another was critically injured after the hydraulic lift they were in toppled over this morning at a construction site at Astra Zeneca.
Waltham Police Detective Lt. Brian Navin said an unidentified 40-year-old construction worker died at the scene after the lift fell. Another worker, a 30-year-old man, was critically injured and rushed to Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston. His current condition is unknown.
The men, who work for Lymo Construction Co. Inc. of Merrimac, N.H., were installing facia paneling to a building on the Astra Zeneca campus at 35 Gatehouse Drive, Navin said. They were 25 feet up in the bucket of a hydraulic lift rented from NES Rentals. The lift was on an incline, but the cause of the accident is still under investigation, Navin said.
