Papa’s Pumpkin Patch, located six miles north of Newton, Kan., is a family affair. The Unruh family created the patch, plants the seeds and welcomes other families to visit.

In addition to selling pumpkins out of the patch, which customers have the option of cutting themselves if the ground isn’t too muddy, there are other activities.

In one corner, there are pumpkin slingshots. Kids can try their hand at a corn maze, corn shelling and can take wagon rides. There’s a large slide built from a dirt mound, hay bales near the road, and a pool of corn for kids to play in.
