Boston Police is investigating the death of an Emmanuel College student who they believe accidentally fell from a third-story window of a Brighton apartment building on Tuesday morning.

Gabrielle King, 20, of Middleton, was found unconscious on Cummings Road by a passerby around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Boston EMS transported the victim to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton where she was pronounced dead soon thereafter.

The Boston Police Homicide Unit and other detectives are continuing to investigate what they are calling an “accidental fall,” according to a Boston Police media relations representative.

King graduated from Masconomet Regional High School in 2007 and was a sophomore at the all-women’s college located in Boston. She studied Spanish and psychology.

“Gabby was an important member of the Emmanuel community. Since we learned of her death early Tuesday morning, we have been gathering to support one another and remember her,” Emmanuel College President Sister Janet Eisner said in a statement.

Eisner said King was known as a great friend and a hard-working student. In addition to her studies, King volunteered at Catholic Charities and had a great love of language having spent her junior year in high school in Spain.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to Gabrielle’s friends and family. She will be deeply missed,” Eisner said.
