Brad Lager: Honoring our veterans
This week, we will have the opportunity to remember and give praise to those heroic Americans who have given so much for our country as we celebrate Veterans Day. This celebratory day was established as a way for us to acknowledge those who have given so much for our country and show our gratitude for the sacrifices they have given in protecting and preserving our way of life.
On Nov. 11, we will take time to remember and honor the sacrifices of the men and women of our military who have done so much to make this country what it is today.
In recent weeks, we have been painfully reminded that freedom is not free. The families of military men and women who have lost their lives while serving their country are in our thoughts and prayers, and our nation is forever in their debt.
Each day we go about our business feeling safe and secure. We have that sense of safety only because there are American soldiers who are willing to stand in harm’s way around the globe to ensure our country and our liberties are being defended. The events of last week were a painful reminder that our soldiers face danger in many ways and from many unexpected threats.
We must never forget the sacrifices made by these brave men and women who defend our liberties and our way of life. I hope each of us take the time to remember and give thanks to those in our community who have given so much of themselves in service to our nation. Each of them sacrificed much and many paid the ultimate price with their lives. They put the needs of our country ahead of their own and risked their lives to defend our freedoms and secure our way of life. Therefore, may we honor them on this Veterans Day may God bless every day.
