The Army Corps of Engineers hopes to have the Sagamore Bridge fully open to traffic for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Work on the current phase of the bridge upgrade should be complete before the holiday. Work crews may have to return to the bridge in the week following Thanksgiving to do some preparation for next spring's phase of work, but the Corps said Monday the fall phase of the work is substantially complete.

Also, U.S. Rep. Bill Delahunt is thanking Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation Jeffrey Mullan for quickly endorsing Delahunt's request to establish a task force to address traffic congestion in the Cape Cod Canal area.

"It is vital to get all agencies and business groups working together on the planning of future work,  the development of alternate routes, the upgading of adjacent roads and in coming up with a much better system of communication," Delahunt said.
