Stoughton gets herds of applications for animal control officer position
More than 60 people have submitted applications for the full-time animal control officer’s job, which has been vacant since October.
“There are a number of people with similar experience working with animals,” said Town Manager Mark S. Stankiewicz.
However, town officials are in no hurry to fill the position, which pays between $30,000 and $40,000, and won’t take action until after Jan. 1, Stankiewicz said. The job is currently being filled by a part-time employee.
On Oct. 30, the town fired former animal control officer Kristin Bousquet after she allegedly lied about a missing dog to its owner, who lives in Rochester.
She has asked the town manager for reconsideration of her firing, which Stankiewicz said he has denied.
