Mt. Shasta Ski Park lifts start turning Thursday
With the last round of storms, the Mt. Shasta Ski Park is set to open tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 17. With 24 inches of snow at the base and 33 inches at the top of Douglas, all three lifts will be in operation, with limited runs on Douglas and Coyote.
Lifts will start turning at 9 a.m. for day skiing, said marketing director Jim Mullins Wednesday afternoon.
In the last 24 hours, the Park received 8 inches of fresh snow. Though this week’s storm was warmer than anticipated, the Park did get enough snow for opening day.
With a 40 percent chance of rain and snow showers in the city until Friday, then again Sunday through the rest of the week, winter sports enthusiasts are crossing their fingers for plenty of snow at the Park.
For information about snow conditions on the mountain, call the Mt. Shasta Ski Park snowphone at 926-8686. For a live webcam view of the conditions, visit the website www.skipark.com.
