Some traffic was beginning to move through one open lane southbound on Interstate 5 near Sims Road as of 6:35 p.m. April 28, 2010, according to the Caltrans website: http://cad.chp.ca.gov/
Traffic was stopped in both directions on Interstate 5 after a big rig traveling southbound overturned prior to 5:50 p.m.
Caltrans District 2 public information officer Michael Mayor said the truck spilled its load about 12 miles south of Dunsmuir into the northbound lanes, blocking traffic in both directions.
No injuries were reported.
A closure of approximately 90 minutes was initially expected while the highway is being cleared.
Changeable message signs on I-5 were activated to alert motorists to the situation.
