Margery Foster, 96, of Yreka was awarded a plaque for oldest Siskiyou County native during the senior program Friday, Aug. 13, 2010 at the Siskiyou Golden Fair.

Many “experienced persons” attended the seniors program Friday at the Siskiyou Golden Fair in Yreka, where they heard Tony the Cowboy Poet and were entertained by Lanky the Clown. “I call you experienced persons because you have a lot more life experience than I do,” said Lanky.

The crowd participated in trivia, winning a gold dollar coin for each correct answer, and even turned on the competition in a tortilla toss.

Plaques were awarded to the couple that has been married the longest, the person with the most grandchildren, the oldest Siskiyou County native and the person who traveled the farthest to attend the fair.

Ada Bedell of Etna was awarded a plaque for having the most grandchildren during the senior program Aug. 13, 2010 at the Siskiyou Golden Fair. She has 22 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren and each one receives a card and a phone call on their birthday, she said.
