Make way for WHS royalty

Weed High School’s Homecoming king, queen, prince and princess will be announced this Friday evening between the JV and varsity football games. JV will play the Tulelake Honkers beginning at 5:30 p.m. The varsity will face the Woodland Christian Cardinals. Candidates in back, left to right, are: freshman Aidan Hagarty, sophomore Aaron Peruzzi, junior Caleb Goltz and seniors Gabe Gubetta, Cody Beam, Liam Hagarty and Tyler Moser. In front, left to right, are freshmen Jillian Neel, sophomore Jeni Cheffey, junior Ybeth Casorla, and seniors Michelle Downer, Sasha Wroten, Ellie DeRoss and Melinda Salyka.

Weed High School’s Homecoming game against Tulelake and Woodland Christian is this Friday, Oct. 22, and there are many activities planned for the entire week.

Dress up days will give students an opportunity to show their school spirit. Monday is pajama day, Tuesday is twin day and Wednesday is celebrity day. Thursday, each class is an assigned board game  for their theme: seniors are Candyland, juniors are Life, sophomores are Clue and Freshman have Scene It Disney.

Game day, as always, is green and white day.

There will also be a powder puff game, which will allow the girls to show off their football skills, an assembly and a downtown parade beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday

The crowning of king, queen, prince and princess will occur between the JV and varsity games Friday evening.

The JV Cougars will face the Tulelake Honkers beginning at 5:30 p.m. The varsity team will play the Woodland Christian Cardinals directly afterward.

The Homecoming/Sadie Hawkins dance will be held on Saturday to wrap up a week of Cougar festivities.
