Update: search ongoing Friday evening for missing snowboarder on Mt. Shasta

As of 4 p.m. Friday, the search was continuing for missing snowboarder Alex Gautreaux, age 23 of Mount Shasta.

Search and Rescue personnel from Shasta County, Klamath County, Trinity County, Lassen, Josephine and Jackson counties are all assisting the Sheriff’s Department in the search, according to a report from the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Department.

The weather lifted enough in the afternoon for the CHP helicopter to begin searching the area.

Sheriff Jon Lopey stated, “The search will continue through the night. Currently we are utilizing every available resource and have requested additional teams, they are enroute from Central California and Oregon to assist in the search and they will be on scene if needed in the morning. We are using every available and imaginable resource to locate this young man and bring him home to his family. We have had an overwhelming response of personnel, volunteers, allied agencies, as well as those that work for the Ski Park assisting us in locating Mr. Gautreaux.”
