What to know about Oprah Winfrey's finale
Here are three things you need to know about “The Oprah Winfrey Show" as the finale approaches.
1. On Sept. 8, 1986, Oprah was introduced to the nation after becoming a talk-show star in Chicago. Her show has become perhaps the most influential talk show in television history.
2. The show's last week on TV will feature three episodes: Monday and Tuesday will be shows from the United Center, which a host of celebrities attended, and Wednesday's finale is being kept secret.
3. The Monday and Tuesday shows are called "Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular." Among the stars who will appear are Michael Jordan, Tom Cruise, Maria Shriver, Madonna, Josh Grobin, Patti LaBelle and Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. * Check out the Chicago Tribune's coverage of the shows (which were taped May 17).
