Weed will celebrate summertime in Siskiyou County with its 57th annual Carnevale slated for July 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 at Bel Air Park, featuring carnival rides and games, live music, a parade, the annual People of the Year presentations, a bocce ball tournament and other sports events, food courts, vendor fair, and more.

The celebration kicks off Wednesday, July 6 at 7 p.m. with the Garden of Weeden parade in historic downtown Weed.

“This is a great chance to enjoy a northern California summer vacation in Weed. It’s a beautiful town any time of year, but especially during Carnevale weekend,” said event coordinator Stephanie Shaver.

Shaver mentioned that advanced hotel reservations in the area are encouraged to insure that everyone can get a room close to the carnival and be able to stay in town for the whole weekend. Check out weedchamber.com to see what lodging is available.

The ceremony for People of the Year takes place directly after the parade at Centennial Plaza by City Hall, right off Main Street. This is a joyous occasion to commemorate the citizens and organizations of Weed for all the hard work done in the community throughout the years.

Thursday, July 7 is the opening day of carnival rides and games, the food court and cold beer. The vendor fair will all be underway with a wide variety of items including summer fashions, toys and more.
