What’s happening today:

- The trial of former presidential candidate John Edwards begins today. He faces six charges related to mismanagement of money during his presidential campaign, including a charge that he spent $1 million to hide his affair and love child.

- Also beginning today is the trial of William Balfour, who is accused of killing Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew in 2008.

Opening bell: The Dow opened at 13,029.26 today. It finished last week up 65.16 points.

Gas prices: reports today’s lowest gas prices are in Oklahoma ($3.556 a gallon) and Missouri ($3.615).
