News to know

The Kentucky Derby has never seen a white horse win the race, but that could change Saturday. Hansen is a brilliant-white horse who can defy the odds at the Run for the Roses, and he would be doing so in more ways than one - his odds stood at 10-1 on Thursday. Only 8 percent of all horses are white, so it’s rare when one even qualifies for the Kentucky Derby.

Quote of note

"The question is where is the trend going forward. We think the labor market continues to remain healthy and we expect claims to edge lower." – Economist Brett Ryan, talking about the Thursday report that jobless claims fell dramatically last week, from 392,000 to 365,000.
