Volunteers needed to fill Mt. Shasta Rec and Parks board

Applications are now being accepted to fill three volunteer positions on the Mt. Shasta Recreation and Parks District Board.

The Recreation and Parks District is a special district and provides diversified, quality recreational programs for individuals of all ages in Mt. Shasta, according to a press release from the city. The district also contracts to provide administration, clerical, and maintenance services for the Dunsmuir and Weed Recreation and Parks Districts.

The four year terms of the board members will commence on July 1, 2012, following city council appointment, and will expire on June 30, 2016.

The Recreation and Parks District Board is an independent Brown Act Legislative Body whose meetings are held monthly on the second Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Mt. Shasta City Park’s main lodge.

Applications are being accepted from members of the community residing inside or outside of the Mt. Shasta City limits.Applicants should be prepared to participate in an interview conducted by the nominating committee regarding their application to fill one of these vacancies.

Applications are available at Mt. Shasta City Hall or via the city’s website. Applications will be accepted through 4  p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2012.
