New movies: 'Ice Age,' 'Neil Young'
ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT
Expect more of the same tame jokes and predictable animal banter in this flagging carton franchise about – appropriately enough – prehistoric creatures. This time, the critters are under attack by – oh, no – PIRATES! Ray Romano, Denis Leary and Queen Latifah return to supply the voices for this, the fourth (and hopefully last) installment of Fox’ huge money-making animated franchise.
NEIL YOUNG JOURNEYS
In their third collaboration, director Jonathan Demme journeys home to Omemee, Ontario, with the eponymous troubadour during Young’s 2011 tour. Riding around in a 1956 Crown Vic, the pair visit Young’s childhood haunts en route to Toronto, where Young will perform two shows at the legendary Massey Hall. Songs include cuts off Young’s latest album, “Le Noise,” in addition to classic hits like “Ohio” and “Hey Hey, My My.”
BALLPLAYER: PELOTERO
Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine has been catching a lot of heat from commissioner Bud Selig for executive producing this less-than-flattering depiction of how Major League Baseball scouts behave when recruiting poor, under-educated kids from the Dominican Republic.
