The most controversial film at January’s Sundance Film Festival arrives with writer-director Craig Zobel asking disturbing questions about how far we’re willing to go to appease so-called authority figures, like the police. Dreama Walker stars as the victim of an infuriating real-life charade unwittingly abetted by the young girl’s boss, played by Ann Dowd.
Director David Cronenberg follows up his overrated “A Dangerous Method” with another psychological drama, this one built around the current world financial crisis. Robert Pattinson stars as the naïve protagonist who finds himself dangerously over his head. Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti and Samantha Morton costar.
ROBOT AND FRANK
Frank Langella plays an aging jewel thief who finds an unlikely partner in crime when his concerned son (James Marsden) presents him with a humanoid robot intended to be a caregiver, not an accomplice. Susan Sarandon costars.
