Jim Hillibish: Three products that ease grilling stress
Grate Chef, of Dacula, Ga., has launched three products that ease the perils of gas and charcoal grilling:
Fire Starters: Packets that promise to start charcoal and wood fires in about 10 minutes with no added odor or taste. Place one or two packets into the fuel and light. The packets contain urea-based resins, hydrocarbons and paraffin. Three six packs for $8.99.
Grill Wipes: Preheat grill, use a brush to remove char, place a wipe under the brush and clean the warm grill. The wipes create a non-stick, clean surface that enhances grill marks. It’s made from vegetable oil and acidic acid. Three six packs for $8.99.
Flare Down: This food-safe spray damps down flare-ups safely while you keep on grilling. It works by denying oxygen to the fire and attacks flaming grease. Spray at the base of the flames. Contains water, potassium salts and surfactants. Two 20-ounce spray bottles for $19.99.
Grate Chef items are available at Lowe’s, Ace Hardware, True Value, Home Depot and Giant Eagle.
