Morning Jolt: What will Biden’s gun recommendations be?

In the news: Vice President Joe Biden announced yesterday that he will make gun-control recommendations to President Barack Obama next week. Biden is heading up a task force formed after the school shootings in Newtown, Conn. The task force is meeting with various representatives on the gun issue, and one area that may have a majority of support is universal background checks.  

Happening today: The big movies opening in theaters today are “Gangster Squad,” an R-rated action movie starring Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone; and “A Haunted House,” an R-rated comedy spoof starring Marlon Wayans.

Gas update: Gasbuddy.com reports that the average price for a gallon of gas in the U.S. is $3.271. Last year at this time it was $3.340.
