Superstar soccer player Lionel Messi is accused of tax fraud by the Spanish government. Officials say the Barcelona star defrauded the country of $5 million. Messi, who is from Argentina and in that country now, commented on Facebook that this is the first he’s heard of the claims and that he is not guilty. "We are surprised about the news, because we have never committed any infringement. We have always fulfilled all our tax obligations, following the advice of our tax consultants, who will take care of clarifying this situation,” he wrote. Forbes magazine lists Messi as one of the world’s highest-paid athletes.
