Children with an interest in a BMX park in Dunsmuir speak at a community meeting on Wednesday, April 3.

On Wednesday evening, several Dunsmuir citizens and families turned out to show their support to a proposed BMX track during a meeting at the Dunsmuir Recreation and Parks District.

Pictures of various BMX tracks, disc golf, skate parks, and more were on display.

A presentation is scheduled to be made to the City of Dunsmuir Thursday, April 17 at 6 p.m.

Guy Shoop, one of the promoters of the plan, says, “Our thoughts are to go with the small BMX and Disc Golf at first and step our way to better and more for the kids and families. Together with the volunteers, we are developing a three-year plan. We realize that funding is an issue and so we are looking into federal grant monies available for such things as Woodland’s Trail Improvement and other such potentials for funding to get the ball rolling. We are simply responding to the requests of our kids, and we think they need more to do here in town to keep them out of trouble and busy.”

Resident and business owner Cindy Miller said, “This idea you have is a wonderful benefit for the whole city and projects like this one can bring the whole city together.”
