Siskiyou County offering Veterans Identification Cards to vets

Staff Writer
Mount Shasta Herald

Military Veterans living in Siskiyou County can now get a county issued Veterans Identification Card that will verify their status as a Veteran. These ID cards will go to those who have served our country honorably and make it a little easier for them to connect with the various benefits available to them. The Veteran ID card can be useful to Veterans to prove eligibility for a number of services and benefits including identification and discounts at participating retail establishments and restaurants.

The new identification cards will make it easier for the Veteran Service Office to assist our Veterans with veteran benefits and to keep track of ongoing services. Those requesting an ID card will need to show a Drivers License or some other form of legal identification and bring with them an original or certified copy of their DD214. If you do not have an original or certified copy of your DD214 we can assist you with obtaining one. A Veteran must meet veteran status per VA requirements and must have an Honorable Discharge or General Under Honorable Conditions.

This ID card is NOT a Veterans Affairs (VA) issued card.

You may stop by the Siskiyou County Veterans Service Office at 105 E Oberlin Road in Yreka during business hours, Monday through Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm.
