The traffic signal at Mount Shasta Boulevard and Lake Street is inoperable according to a press release from City Hall on Thursday, Nov. 12.

The City of Mount Shasta wishes to advise the community that the intersection signal at Lake Street and Mt. Shasta Boulevard has suffered a major component failure.

On Tuesday November 9th, City crews arrived to the signals in flash mode. Upon further investigation, it was found that the power distribution unit and adjacent cables inside the signal cabinet had burned and melted. An apparent power surge seems to be the cause of the problem.

The City is working with its signal vendor to assess the damage and get the signals repaired. Due to the signals being custom-made, it could take several months to get replacement parts.

The City asks for your patience while this issue is resolved and remind motorists traveling through this intersection to use caution to avoid conflicts with pedestrians and other motorists. This intersection will remain a four-way stop until the signals are repaired and placed back in service.

Questions can be directed to City Hall at (530) 926-7510.
