In the shadows of Railroad Days in Dunsmuir, local businesses opened their doors to add live music and specials on Dunsmuir Second Saturday to attract tourists and locals for more community fun.

“It is a great way to spend the day having fun and get out of the heat,” says Gloria Hansen from Oregon who sits in the store called Munchies with her family. “They have 3 tacos for $5 special today so we had lunch here. I scored on a classic DVD that I couldn’t find anywhere. They have a great collection.”

Munchies, a unique convenience store that people use to hang out at. They serve ice cream and have a vast selection of occult films not found on Nextflix for sale or rent.

There is always live music at Dunsmuir 2nd Saturday. Greg Arious, a musical comedian played his cute parodies in front of Magic Mountain Massage & Wellness drawing others to join in with other instruments on hand.

Olde Thyme Tattoos offers a $40 tattoo special each Dunsmuir 2nd Saturday and also has piercing specials. Hidden on Pine Street off of Dunsmuir Avenue, Jaime Meredith has an open, clean, friendly environment and a big following.

For fun with the locals, there is gaming at The Wheelhouse where you can find tables full of people playing a variety of table and board games. “It’s like a clubhouse for us,” says Will Newman. “It’s a place where visitors to town feel welcomed and a part of this. John Dally and Hannah Smith built this personally and the food here is good.”

The Wheelhouse hosts Trivia Night every Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Dunsmuir 2nd Saturday also featured some of the local B & B’s like the Perllan House which is a quaint bed and breakfast on the north end of Dunsmuir Avenue. The old building was originally a hospital in 1917 and in 1936 it was a grocery store. Through the years it was also a Greyhound Station, and ice cream polar. It is a great tour to hear of its 100-year history and see the themed and historic rooms.

Proprietor of the Perllan House B & B shows guest what is in the refrigerator for people to help themselves in the antique, stylish kitchen. Perllan means the orchard in Welch and is surrounded by ancient fruit trees.

Throughout the summer Dunsmuir 2nd Saturday will have entertainment and tours and featured businesses. Find them on Facebook.
