Dunsmuir Farmers Market will open July 11 with fresh, local vegetables and fruit, prepared foods, and crafts. It will operate Thursdays from 4-7 p.m. through the harvest season. Customers from all over the south county have come to the market for delicious peaches and nectarines, tomatoes, melons, lettuce and kale, berries, and many other fruits and vegetables.

The market will feature Sengthong's summer rolls,Vietnamese salads, sticky rice, coconut tapioca, and Thai iced tea. Silvia will bring handmade tamales and salsa. Sheppard's Cottage Foods brings honey, and jams and jellies. Julia's Fruit Stand will bring peaches and nectarines, tomatoes, several kinds of squash, cucumbers, onions, and more tasty, local produce. Beloved Soaps features beautiful, home made artisan soaps. Watt's Cool Designs' fantastic, custom designed Dunsmuir T-shirts and mini gardens are a favorite. Dunsmuir Community Garden will bring organic, fresh produce. Other vendors and producers will join the market as the season progresses. Musicians will entertain the customers at most markets. The market is located on Spruce between Dunsmuir Ave. and Shasta Avenue, next to Dunsmuir Brewery Works and across from the Children’s Park.

The market brings fresh, quality produce and artisan food and crafts to the entire community. It helps low-income families, seniors, and others to afford healthy, delicious produce by accepting SNAP, or Cal Fresh, benefits and offering a match up to $15 for EBT, WIC, and Senior Farmers Market coupon purchases.

Produce and craft vendors are encouraged to join the market. Interested home gardeners can contact the market manager for information on becoming a certified farmers market producer. The process is easy, inexpensive, and is a great way to make money selling extra garden produce. The market is also an enjoyable community event and fun to be a part of.
