Celebrating resiliency: the Boles Fire, 5 years later
Weed Elementary School and Weed High School staff and students gathered at WES on Friday for the fourth annual Boles Fire barbecue, which celebrates Weed’s resilience after the devastation of the Boles Fire, which ripped through the community on Sept. 15, 2014.
WES principal/superintendent Alisa Cummings thanked the cafeteria crew, Fred Poindexter and Mike Ristuccia for barbecuing and WHS principal Mike Matheson for being the DJ on the playground. “It was a fun event had by all,” she said.
The fire burned 479 acres and destroyed 150 homes.
