Second COVID-19 death reported in Siskiyou County

A second COVID-19 related death was reported in Siskiyou County Monday afternoon.
No information about the person or how they contracted the virus is being released to protect the person's privacy, Siskiyou County Public Health said in a brief press release.
Currently, there are 105 active COVID-19 cases in Siskiyou County, and five people are hospitalized. There have been a total of 495 confirmed cases in the county since the pandemic began.
The death is "another tragic reminder that all Siskiyou County residents must take action to slow the spread of the virus by following all applicable guidance and recommendations from the Public Health Department," according to the release. "It is essential that the public practice preventative measures to protect themselves, their family and their community."

Prevent the spread of COVID-19 by:
Staying at home if you are sick
Washing hands often
Wearing a face covering when in public
Practicing social distancing
Avoiding gatherings, including family gatherings Community spread poses an even higher threat to people in increased risk categories.
Those individuals should continue to stay home as much as possible to limit their exposure to the virus, Siskiyou County Public Health said. People at increased risk include adults over 65 years old and persons with chronic health conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes and lung disease.
