Starting Wednesday, Fairchild Medical Center in Yreka is offering Pfizer booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine to patients who meet the designated criteria. 

The booster shots will be available 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday. People getting the shot are asked to enter the hospital's rear parking lot on Wendy Drive and follow the signage to the registration building. Fairchild is at 444 Bruce St.

People seeking the booster shot do not need to have received their initial COVID-19 vaccines at the hospital, but they must present their proof of vaccination card and meet other eligibility requirements.

Fairchild does not have an estimate as to when other boosters may become available.

What are the requirements to receive the booster?

  • Must have received the initial two-dose Pfizer vaccine.
  • Must have received the second shot in the series no less than 6 months ago.
  • Must be 65 years or older.
  • Must be age 18 or older and live in a long-term care setting.
  • Must be age 18 or older have underlying medical conditions.
  • Must be age 18 or older and work in a high risk setting.
  • Must be age 18 or older and live in a high risk setting.

Fairchild also announced updates to its rules for visitors.

Visitors must be over the age of 18, wear a mask while inside the facility, and present proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test completed within the past 72 hours.
