Big rig accident backed up I-5 traffic north of Weed

A big rig was involved in a single vehicle accident on Interstate-5 about two miles south of Louie Road, north of the Weed Airport and Weed rest areas Wednesday afternoon, May 4, 2016.
Sergeant Maurer of the California Highway Patrol said the big rig was traveling northbound on I-5 when it lost control and came to a stop on the southbound side of the freeway. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta.
Sergeant Maurer said the cause of the accident was under investigation.
Southbound lanes of I-5 were backed up for approximately two miles.
