CHP investigating Wednesday morning fatal collision on SR-89

The Mount Shasta Area CHP Office is investigating a traffic collision that resulted in the death of a pedestrian early Wednesday morning, July 29, on Highway 89 north of Edson Creek Rd.

An unidentified male pedestrian died after being struck by a 1990 Kenworth logging truck that was traveling south on SR-89, driven by Nicholas Otto, age 25 of Central Point, Ore., according to a CHP news release.

The pedestrian, who did not possess any form of identification, was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the CHP.
