Big Eddy coming to Bay State

Norman Miller

I really haven’t been excited about most of the Leinenkugel beers that have been distributed out here – they’re just not my thing.

But, I’ve heard good things about Leinenkuge’s Big Eddy Russian Imperial Stout, and now for the first time, it will be available in the northeast, including every New England state.

The imperial stout is one of four beers in the Big Eddy series. The others are a Baltic porter, IPA and wee heavy Scotch ale.

The stout is brewed with 11 different types of malt and three different hops. It comes in at 9.5 percent ABV.

“Russian Imperial Stout has attracted a loyal following from beer enthusiasts throughout the country and we are now excited to share it with our fans in New England,” said Jake Leinenkugel, a fifth-generation brewer. “Russian Imperial Stout is a robust, flavorful beer, yet pairs well with a variety of meats as well as chocolate desserts.”

Interested in trying some of the other Leinenkugel beers? Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill, 431 Middlesex Road, Tyngsboro is hosting a beer dinner featuring four different Leinenkugel beers on Wednesday beginning at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $25 per person if you pre-register by calling 978-649-5410. Tickets are $30 at the door.

The menu is:

Family style pretzel bones and smoked wings with Honey Weiss.

Nutty chicken salad with Sunset Wheat

Signature house smoked prime rib with Vanilla Porter

Leaning Tower of Chocolate cake and hot doughnuts with Lemon Berry Shandy.

It sounds pretty tasty.
