Announcing the New “Are You Lost in Suburbia?” Community!

When I first got pregnant, I had visions of a beautifully kept home, perfectly prepared meals, and adoring children who slept all night.

The reality of being a mom is certainly filled with joy, love and wonder. But it’s also filled with messiness, sleeplessness, and often times, a loss of identity. Oh yes… and cleaning wipes. Lots and lots of cleaning wipes.

For me, at first, it was about being lost in motherhood. And then we moved out of the city and I was lost in suburbia. And then I realized they are both kind of the same thing.

As moms, I think we are ALL somewhat Lost in Suburbia, no matter where we live.

Lost in Suburbia is not just a geographical thing. It’s a state of mind. It’s about losing yourself when you become a mom. One of the ways I found my way back was to discover the humor in parenting. The other way was through some really good friends who could relate to what I was going through. Although we all love our children, sometimes we don’t always love the challenges that come with being a mom, and that can be a tough thing to admit.

As women and mothers we have more choices than ever before, but with these choices come new challenges. Whether you decide to quit your job and be a stay at home mom, return to work and find childcare, or work from home and try to balance work and family, there are compromises to be made, things to be gained, and things to give up.

That’s why I‘m inviting you to share your stories

and thoughts about learning to cope with the changes that have rocked your world, and how you found,

or are finding your way to the other side.

With the launch of the “Are you lost in Suburbia?” Campaign, I want to bring together and nurture a community where women are empowered to share their experiences and the discovery that they are not alone in the good, the bad, the horrifically embarrassing, and often hilarious moments of parenting.

Please come to the new “Lost in Suburbia Stories” blog and tell me your story of being lost in suburbia. Your stories will be posted on the blog for everyone to read! And each week, one story will be featured here, on my main website.

Thanks so much for being a part of my world here at Lost in Suburbia.

I look forward to being a part of yours, too!
