Sheriff's Office: Big Springs area deaths a double homicide

The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office has determined that the suspicious deaths of a married couple found deceased the morning of July 5 at their residence in the Big Springs area, Montague, was a homicide.

The victims have been identified as Mr. John N. Doyle, 69, and Mrs. Carol L. Doyle, 67, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.

“On behalf of the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office, I would like to extend our condolences and prayers to the family and many friends of John and Carol Doyle,” Sheriff Jon Lopey states in the release. “This case is in a critical stage of the investigative process and anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the 24-hour SCSO Dispatch Center at (530) 841-2900.”

Sheriff’s Office units responded to a 9-1-1 call originating at the Doyle residence in the 14000 block of County Road A-12 the morning of July 5, just prior to 7:30 a.m., according to the release.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that a field sergeant and deputies “responded to the initial call and discovered the decedents and conducted an initial crime scene analysis. The SCSO’s Major Crimes’ Unit with the assistance of the Department’s Forensic Technician have processed the crime scene and collected important evidence. An autopsy has been conducted and results will be released in the near future.”
