A falling tree hit this power pole and disconnected a wire on Old Stage Rd., just north of Pine Grove Dr. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, just before noon.

As of 3 p.m. Thursday power had been restored to more than 4,000 of the approximately 5,000 Pacific Power customers who had been without it since just before noon.

The other 969 were expected to have power back by about midnight, according to information provided at about 5:30 p.m. by Pacific Power spokesperson Jan Mitchell. Crews are working on multiple wires that came down in several locations, she said.

A deluge of rain and gale force gusts up to 40 miles per hour caused more than one tree to fall and damage transmission lines in the Mt. Shasta area, according to spokesperson Tom Gauntt.

More than half of the Mount Shasta customers who lost power had it restored by 1:40 p.m., Gauntt said. Another 1,462 had their power restored by 2:56 p.m.
