A once-in-a-century Pi day

Dunsmuir Elementary School students ended their Pi day celebration by forming the Pi sign.

Dunsmuir Elementary School celebrated today's once-in-a-century Pi Day in advance with events including circular activites such as a hula hoop contest, Duck, Duck Goose, Saturn race, and a pie eating contest. The celebration ended with students forming the Pi sign.

The numbers in today's date, 3/14/15, correspond with the first five numbers of the mathematical constant Pi, 3.1415.

At 9:26 and 53 seconds this morning and tonight, the date and time will match the first 10 digits in Pi, 3.141592653.
