With grade point averages that far exceed 4.0, four soon-to-be Mount Shasta High School graduates have been honored as class valedictorians and salutatorians.

Mariah Althaus, Julie Ostrowski, Katherine Holst and Tess Abbott will each be speaking at their graduation ceremony this Friday, June 7, which is set to take place on the Mount Shasta High School football field at 6 p.m. If it rains, the ceremony will be moved to the gymnasium.

Mariah and Julie are valedictorians and Tess and Katherine are salutatorians.

The girls – who attended MSHS all four years of their high school careers – said they took advantage of the school’s Advanced Placement classes, exceptional staff and small class sizes to prepare them for college next year.

Mariah will attend Montana State University in the fall. Katherine and Julie will attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Tess will attend Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash.
