Smoke returns as Happy Camp Complex nears 100,000 acres

A huge yellow moon came up over the mountains Monday evening in the Mt. Shasta area.

After more than a week of clear skies in the Mt. Shasta area, smoke from the Happy Camp Complex returned when the wind direction changed Monday.

It’s anticipated that smoke from the lightning-caused Happy Camp fires will continue to be pushed southeast Tuesday, according to information posted at:

Tuesday morning’s inciweb report shows the lightning-caused Happy Camp Complex at 99,200 acres and 30 percent contained with 2,637 personnel involved. The estimated cost to date is $60.7 million.
