Boles Fire update: meeting scheduled for Sunday evening

The City of Weed will be hosting a community meeting for all residents affected by the Boles Fire at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, in the College of the Siskiyous theater.

A discussion is planned regarding students returning to school and the rebuilding and repair of the community after the Boles Fire.

CAL FIRE’s Sunday morning incident update showed the number of structures damaged or destroyed by the Boles Fire at 154, up from previous estimates of 150.

The number of personnel involved has decreased to 453.

The Boles Fire was declared 100 percent contained and evacuations lifted as of Saturday morning. It burned 479 acres

Residents can access the area at North Davis Avenue at South Davis Avenue and Lincoln Avenue at Railroad Avenue. They are being required to show identification with proof of residency.

Fire crews are assisting residents as they search for personal belongings amongst the debris, according to the CAL FIRE update. Utility crews are continuing to assess and repair damaged equipment and infrastructure.
