Pacific Power has announced that it will initiate a planned power outage in McCloud on Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon.

During the anticipated three-hour outage repairs will be made to equipment that was damaged by lightning.

Customers will receive a phone call Monday with a recorded message concerning the planned outage, according to the McCloud Community Services District.

Inquiries about the planned outage should be directed to Pacific Power's toll-free customer service phone number at 1-888-221-7070.

Pacific Power encourages customers to prepare in advance for the planned power outage, and for any unexpected outages due to severe weather or other causes. "Because this outage will be short, it's unlikely you will need all the items listed below," Pacific Power said, "but it's always a good idea to assemble a preparedness kit that includes the following items in the event of any type of emergency:"

• flashlight

• blankets

• non-perishable foods

• battery-operated radio and clock

• manual can opener

• extra batteries

• bottled water

If someone in your home is on life support equipment, be sure to have a back-up system and a plan of action in preparation for this outage.
