A dispatcher with the Gates Fire Department has been charged with 267 counts of grand larceny and falsifying business records.

State Police have charged Stephen Leuchtner, whom fire officials say filed false time sheets between January 2008 and August 2013 and collected more than $65,000 for more than 1,900 hours of overtime.

Leuchtner was responsible for quality assurance within the department, and his duties included checking protocol and procedures. Police say he never did the work he claimed to have completed outside his regular shifts.
