Siskiyou's June 3 candidate list: Palfini challenges Kobseff

Weed City Councilor Ken Palfini officially filed paperwork last week to run against District 3 Supervisor Michael Kobseff on the June 3 ballot.

Current Dunsmuir city manager and chief financial officer Brenda Bains is running against incumbent Jennie Ebejer for the position of county Auditor-Controller, according to election information released by County Clerk Colleen Setzer on Friday.

Two candidates: business owner/forester Ray Haupt and tax preparer Anne Marsh will vie for the District 5 Supervisoral seat. Because incumbent Marcia Armstrong didn’t file, the deadline for that race only has been extended until Wednesday, March 12, at 4 p.m.

If Dunsmuir city councilor Leslie Wilde’s recall is successful, there are four candidates who are running to take her seat. They are Dick Kelby, Linda Gnesa, Bill McIntyre, and Lorenzo Castro.

All other county offices are uncontested and only incumbents filed for candidacy. They are Superior Court Judge Karen Dixon, Superintendent of Schools Kermith Walters, Assessor-Recorder Mike Mallory, County Clerk Colleen Setzer, District Attorney Kirk Andrus, Sheriff Jon Lopey, and Treasurer-Tax Collector Wayne Hammar.
