Robert Clifford Neptune
Born April 4, 1945, Weed, CA; deceased June 11, 2020, Mount Shasta, CA
Bob was born to his parents Gertrude E. (Nash) & Clifford J. Neptune. He never lived more than 10 miles from where he was born. He graduated Mount Shasta High School in 1964. He joined his father in the Siskiyou Co. Lumber Industry where his passion for Eco. Responsible Timber quickly grew. He worked in several Siskiyou Co. mills including McCloud, Weed, and Yreka. In 1975, he purchased a mobile sawmill and established “Neptune’s Sawmill & Lumber Sales,” specializing in tree falling, timber processing, and fire wood. In over 60 years in the forestry business, Bob replanted hundreds of seedlings.
In 1974 Bob met the love of his life, Cathy W. Middleton, they were wed on New Year’s Eve 1975. They shared many enjoyable days in the woods of Northern California where they raised their family to love and respect nature. Bob knew every tree by its genus and loved to share that knowledge with others.
Bob’s proudest moment was the day he became a “Papa.” He enjoyed every visit with his 3 grandbabies, teaching them how to fish, skip rocks, hunt mushrooms, and share his love for nature.
Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cathy W. (Middleton), his Son, “Bobby” Robert L. Neptune (34), his daughter, Ashly Smith (37), her spouse Msgt. Scott Smith (USAF), their three children, Alison Neptune-Smith (16), William Smith (14), and James Smith (12) and Bob’s older sister, Bonnie Crocker of Grants Pass, OR. an Uncle, Cleo Toms of Weed, CA., as well as his brothers & sisters in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Bob is preceded in passing by his first born daughter, Stacy Lynn Neptune (13 months), his parents, Gertrude & Clifford Neptune, his parents-in-law Dorothy A. (Toms) & Warren S. Middleton, Alice E. Deetz, and 3 brothers-in-law.
In 2003 Bob rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized at Hope Community Church, Mount Shasta, CA.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, FUNERAL SERVICES WILL NOT BE HELD AT THIS TIME, a memorial & celebration of life will be planned later this Fall.
