Jim Mathews, age 89, was born in Salinas, California, on December 9, 1930. He passed away on Father’s Day, June 21, 2020, at home in Mt. Shasta, California, where he lived for over 60 years. He and his wife Janet (Miller) would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on July 23rd of this year. He was the proud father of four children: Mark (Annette) Mathews, Arvada, CO; Mike (Kim) Mathews, Redding, CA; Marci (Rick) Roberts, Chesterton, IN; and Maury (Tammi) Mathews, Vacaville, CA. He had 10 grandchildren: five girls and five boys, and three great grandchildren, all boys.

Jim was a faithful and active member of Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and SIR’s (Sons in Retirement). He worked as a laboratory technician at the hospital in Mt. Shasta for 45 years, and was much loved and respected in the community. Jim was patient and kind, and always had a joke or pun to share with those around him. He was very much loved and will be truly missed!

Because of the current COVID-19 restrictions, his life will be celebrated at a private family mass on July 3, 2020. The family would appreciate your thoughts and prayers on that day.
